There has been no baseball team in my lifetime like the Big Red Machine! They were the soundtrack of my summers as a kid, and they are unquestionably one of the best teams ever assembled.
We all know about Rose, Morgan, Bench, Perez and Anderson, but how about the designer who put the pieces together.
I've always thought that Bob Howsam's story would make an interesting book. Apparently, Daryl Smith thought so too, and he talks about Howsam and his book on this episode of the Joe Elliott Radio Podcast
The book, MAKING THE BIG RED MACHINE, is available at the usual on-line outlets.
